For GAP THE MIND we selected and curated films, exclusively by London based filmmakers, situated around or inside the notion of the gap as an aperture between two structures. Situating these films through the aperture allows us to consider traditional canons or canyons of filmic language. We felt that each film was embodying their own visual languages, traversing the space of the fissure and breaching through those filmic structures. We asked the audience to consider the gap as an opportunity, as to “gap one’s mind open” to excavate a space for these new expressions.
